Story | Some street signs in Brazil bear the names of people who were involved in the country's brutal military dictatorship. These signs are a daily insult to people who were victims of the regime or lost loved ones to its atrocities. On the anniversary of the Military Coup, the names were replaced by those of notorious dictators, including Hitler and Mussolini. On the bottom of each sign was the notice: "Whoever killed or tortured cannot become a street name". They led to a website inviting users to sign a petition to get the original street sign names changed. |
